Help get kids on bikes this season!
We need to raise funds to support the Bikes for Tykes program and to purchase brand-new helmets to go out with every bike this holiday season. Please donate and help us get kids out on bikes!
About the Bikes for Tykes Program
Obsession: Bikes grew naturally from owner James Wilson’s lifelong love of cycling. Like most kids, his first bike was a hand-me-down. Even though James was probably its fifth owner, he quickly embraced the freedom that only a bicycle can provide. On two wheels, he could travel a few kilometres around his childhood home and eventually, he travelled the world in search of the best single-track trails.
Obsession: Bikes believes every child should experience the joy and freedom of life on two wheels, so in 2006, James launched the Bikes for Tykes program in North Vancouver. When generous donors give new or pre-loved bikes, James’ expert team repairs, fixes, and ensures they’re road ready.
In 2008, James partnered with Family Services of the North Shore to get more bikes to vulnerable families in our community. Today, over 200 kids each year receive a bike and a brand-new helmet. Most importantly, they also receive the gift of freedom. The bikes enable families to be active, connect with friends, and experience the joy of cycling. The bikes also provide cost-effective transportation to school, work, shopping, activities, and appointments.
